The local elections in May 2022 are pivotal for Labour.
These are the first real tests for the Labour Party under Keir Starmer to show that we have won the trust back of the public and to demonstrate that we have the right policies in place to achieve a Labour government in Westminster.
The UK public is truly fed up with Boris Johnson and his Conservative government.
They are fed up of the lies, the deceit, the cronyism, and the general contempt that the Tories and their press baron and developer friends have for the public at large. It really is one rule for them, one for the rest of us.
As chairman of the Mayfield ward Labour Party, I have decided to run for council in May 2022 because I want to put something back into the community where my family and I have lived for the last 21 years.
During the GLA/London mayoral campaign, I was out regularly in the ward and heard firsthand myself of some of the many hardships faced by local residents, who are left powerless because they feel the council officers are not listening to them.
Most of the time, these issues are relatively straightforward like school places, fly-tipping, or parking, and it is just a case of signposting them to the right services areas within Redbridge Council.
Other times, their needs are a bit more complex, and you need to literally fight tooth and nail, on their behalf, and ensure they receive the services that they are entitled to, including sometimes from national agencies and departments.
However, before we can help the helpless and the vulnerable, we need to understand their needs, their hopes and aspirations and ensure that our priorities and policies are fully aligned with theirs.
Over the many years of being a Labour foot soldier, both in Mayfield and elsewhere, I have gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience, and I acutely understand the challenges faced by Redbridge.
I truly hope that by being one of your councillors (along with my colleagues Jas Athwal and Vanisha Solanki), I will be able to make a difference to the residents of Mayfield.
I look forward to working with you all and ensuring that we deliver for the residents of Mayfield.
Please use all your three votes for Labour on May 26th.
